Build, Restore & Create at Redwood Regional Park - 3/30/19
Saturday, March 30, 2019, 10:30am - 1:30pm
Free, public, all-ages event
Redwood Regional Park, Oakland, CA ( map )

Join us in the Create-With-Nature Pathway of Redwood Regional Park.

A Samavesha Community Program event with environmental artist Zach Pine in partnership with Redwood Regional Park, East Bay Regional Park District

Participation is limited and by  REGISTRATION ON EVENTBRITE ONLY.  Past events have filled early.

The Create-With-Nature Pathway is an ongoing participatory public art project with a purpose: running over 150 yards through a redwood grove, the pathway borders are designated spaces for the public to make ephemeral creations using sticks, redwood needles, pine cones, and more. The border edges, made from large tree limbs, in turn serve to protect and bring attention to the ongoing effort to restore the vegetation under the redwoods with indigenous ferns and other native plants. The current pathway was largely built during five free community events in 2013, 2016, and 2018, and now it's time to upgrade and repair the pathway, and continue the restoration work.

We'll start the day by working on the Pathway borders, repairing existing sections, and doing restoration work. After a picnic break (bring your own), we'll make ephemeral art creations collaboratively within the Pathway.
See this gallery of pathway photos, including photos from prior events.
Limited to 30 participants - REGISTRATION REQUIRED at THIS LINK. All ages are welcome, but be aware that some of us will be lifting logs and using tools during our building time.

Your hosts: Park Ranger Pamela Beitz and environmental artist Zach Pine.
Location: the Create-With-Nature Pathway, through the Redwood Gate of Redwood Regional Park, as shown on this map. Free parking for this event.
